Graduation 2020
Before I moved to New York City, I got the chance to photograph some of the lovely graduates from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (my alma mater). I have been lucky enough to be able to do this since 2018, when I first started shooting grads. Although COVID-19 hit these grads like a storm, every single one of them handled it with grace and positivity. Some of my favorite shoots are graduates, because I get to talk to them one-on-one about their experience and what they have planned next. Some of my favorite parts include watching them cringe as the champagne pops and sprays everywhere, hugging their family and significant others, and seeing them light up when I show them some fun shots. For many, they haven't had their picture taken since their HIGH SCHOOL graduation. To them, this experience seems daunting and scary, considering they havent had to pose since they were starting their college journey. Walking them through each location, seeing them turn into fashion models almost immediately is the best. Congratulations to all of the 2020 graduates! You will go far (well, maybe not too far considering the stay at home order for now)!
